Dates Announced for the 2016 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival

Dates for the 2016 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival have been announced - you can join in the celebrations 

from Friday 24th June through to Sunday 3rd July.

Check back in early May when the events will be announced but for now, just book some flights and some accommodation to be sure 

that you won't miss the southern hemisphere's biggest celebration of winter!

American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Programme for 2016 released, tickets sales open 9 May 2016.

Released today(10-06-2016), the 2016 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme spanning 10 days features more than 70 events 

including nine new events, local favourites and more than 40 free events.

Organisers estimate that from Friday 24 June until 3 July 2016 around 45,000 visitors to Queenstown will experience festival events that range 

from outrageously costumed people attempting to fly, float, and ski, Festival spins on mountain biking, skiing, and rafting, epicurean feasting, 

comedic highs, multiple musical stages and a couple of unique firsts thrown in for good measure.

Festival Director Lisa Buckingham says that in its 42 nd year, the Festival continues to offer first timers and old hands, locals and visitors winter fun.

“Each year we look to invigorate and innovate how the Festival celebrates the beginning of Queenstown's winter season,” says Ms Buckingham.

“2016 is no different with nine new events including the Mitre 10 Mega Raft Race and World Social Media Day Bonfire & 

BBQ Instameet, the UE Dodgeball Championships returning and new twists on existing events such as the Auckland Airport Community Carnival.“

Ticketed events such as the SKYCITY 'Fly Me to the Moon' Ball, the American Express Comedy Debate, Wednesday Lates and Comedy Night, 

go on sale on 9 May. In another innovation, instead of pre-sales to American Express Card Members, any tickets purchased 

with American Express will receive 15% discount to any Eventfinda ticketed event.
