오클랜드에서 대략 1시간 30분 거리에 위치해 있으면서 자그마치 58헥타(대략 60만평)의 대단위 공원. 특히 공원은 오클랜드와 우리 모텔이 있는 관광지 로토루아와의 중간 지점에 위치해 있는 아름다운 공원.

 

 

해밀턴 가든스 소개.

해밀턴 가든스의 면적은 자그만치 58핵타르(대략 60만평)를 차지하고 있으며, 해밀턴 묘지와 시운영 탁아소를 포함하고 있다. 빅토리아 플라워 가든이라고 알려져 있는 Cobham Drive 지역은 1950년부터 발전되기 시작 하였다.

1971년에 해밀턴에서 첫번째 세계 장미 박람회가 로저 로즈 가든에서 열림으로써 좀 더 많이 발전되는 계기가 되었다. 그러나 대부분의 정원들의 발전은 해밀턴의 정원 기획안이 승인되었던 1980년에 수행 되었다.

해밀턴 정원은 전통적인 보타닉 가든 형태는 없지만, 대신 그러한 개념이 주민들과의 관계를 근본으로 하고 있다. 이러한 주제 아래 5개의 정원-The Paradise Garden Collection, The Landscape Garden Collection, The Productive Garden Collection,The Fantasy Garden Collection, The Cultivar Garden Collection-이 있다.

특히. 해밀턴 정원은 매년 1백만이 넘는 사람들이 방문하며, 주로 Hamilton Gardens Pavilion 에서는 300쌍의 웨딩이 이루어 지기도 한다.

Of the many European design traditions that put plants and flowers on display, the 19th Century Arts and Crafts style does it best. This is the style which inspired the English Flower Garden at Hamilton Gardens. In the period's heyday, Arts and Crafts gardens were commonly referred to as 'gardens of a golden afternoon'.

You'll find this romantic charm brought to life in the English Flower Garden at Hamilton Gardens. Walls and hedges create 'outdoor rooms' while lines and borders lead to quaint arbors, seats and fountains. Its easy to stay a minute or a while amongst it all on the Garden's beautiful sunken lawn.

Whether it be from the inspiration of the ancient Greek and Roman, Medieval or Islamic - Italian Renaissance gardens are soaked in myth, tradition and history. You can see your first hint of it in the impressive bronze wolf  at the entranceway to the Italian Renaissance Garden at Hamilton Gardens. It is a testament to the ancient fable of Romulus and Remus. Above the entrance path spans equally characteristic, arched trellis work. Deliberately beautiful it is a suitable introduction to the elegance of the bubbling water features and square planted beds below.
